APARECE EN NOVIEMBRE 2018. Aborda las formas de subjetivación que intervinieron en las experiencias de feminidad de las mujeres de la colonia hispana neoyorquina en el periodo de entreguerras. Para ello se parte del estudio de la publicidad, los consejos de belleza y moda, las secciones de fotorreportaje, las páginas femeninas y las cartas de las lectoras de tres de las más importantes publicaciones periódicas en español de la metrópoli: el semanario "Gráfico", el diario "La Prensa" y la revista cultural "Artes y Letras". Lectura y consumo se conjugan en estas páginas para ofrecer otras formas de ciudadanía a sujetos que, en su condición periférica como mujeres e inmigrantes, habitaban los márgenes de la modernidad y de la vida moderna norteamericana.
It addresses the forms of subjectivation that intervened in the experiences of femininity of women in the Hispanic colony of New York in the interwar period. To do this, it is based on the study of advertising, beauty and fashion advice, photo-reportage sections, women's pages and letters from readers of three of the most important periodicals in Spanish in the metropolis: the weekly "Gráfico", the newspaper "La Prensa" and the cultural magazine "Artes y Letras". Reading and consumption are combined in these pages to offer other forms of citizenship to subjects who, in their peripheral condition as women and immigrants, inhabited the margins of modernity and modern American life.

Invaginaciones coloniales examina el surgimiento de regímenes visuales del cuerpo femenino en la medicina, la literatura y el arte, así como las violencias históricas, materiales y simbólicas que hicieron que el cuerpo femenino fuera ultravisible, inteligible y reducible a los órganos sexuales y reproductivos. Entendiendo la Modernidad Temprana como la época que da paso a la generación genital del género, este libro propone una genealogía de la producción discursiva y visual de los órganos sexuales en contextos etnográficos, jurídicos, políticos e inquisitoriales. La investigación se centra en el periodo colonial americano y los albores de la Modernidad española a través de la exploración de un corpus que incluye autores como Colón, Vespucci, Vaz de Caminha, Guamán Poma, Bartolomé de Las Casas, Cabeza de Vaca, Eleno de Céspedes y el Alférez (Catalina de) Erauso.
Colonial Invaginations examines the emergence of visual regimes of the female body in medicine, literature, and art, as well as the historical, material, and symbolic violences that made the female body ultra-visible, intelligible, and reducible to sexual and reproductive organs. Understanding Early Modernity as the era that gives way to the genital generation of gender, this book proposes a genealogy of the discursive and visual production of the sexual organs in ethnographic, legal, political and inquisitorial contexts. The research focuses on the American colonial period and the dawn of Spanish Modernity through the exploration of a corpus that includes authors such as Columbus, Vespucci, Vaz de Caminha, Guamán Poma, Bartolomé de Las Casas, Cabeza de Vaca, Eleno de Céspedes and the Second Lieutenant (Catalina de) Erauso.
